Brand Photography: A Complete Guide to Brand Photoshoots for Businesses
Brand photography is something entirely different from standard corporate portraits. It is not just about photographing people and spaces. It is about capturing the entire story of a company — its culture, values, atmosphere, and way of working.
What is brand photography
Brand photography captures a company in its natural environment. People at work, team dynamics, spaces, products, processes. The result is a set of photos that authentically communicates who you are and how you work.
Unlike classic business portraits where you stand against a plain background, brand photos have context. They tell a story.
What brand photography looks like in practice
Axians — an IT company where people actually enjoy working
For Axians (the Czech branch of VINCI Energies, 300+ specialists), we planned a two-day photoshoot. The goal was to show that even in a large multinational corporation, the atmosphere can be completely relaxed.

We shot portraits, interiors, and everyday moments — coffee on the terrace, a PlayStation corner, foosball in front of the office. The company is dog-friendly, so the dogs made it into the photos too. The results primarily serve talent acquisition — in the IT sector, where the competition for talent is fierce, this kind of content makes all the difference.
Sunlux — solar energy in action
For Sunlux, we photographed the team directly at their workplace and on rooftops during installations. No studio — right where they actually work.

The result was authentic imagery that filled the company’s new website. As Klara Vaverova from marketing said: “Great and flexible communication, he met all our requirements including rooftop shooting and two different locations.”

The brand photography process
I do not create mood boards. Instead, I work with a concrete shoot concept that comes together like this:
1. Initial call (10 minutes)
A quick call where I gather the basic information. What the company does, what kind of photos it needs, and where they will be used. It takes almost no time and gives me everything I need.
2. Concept preparation
Based on the call, I prepare a complete shoot concept:
- Schedule — who will be photographed, when, and where
- Types of photos — portraits, lifestyle, interiors, details
- Visual direction — how the photos should look and feel
3. Client consultation
We review the concept on a follow-up call. We adjust whatever is needed. The client knows exactly what to expect.
4. Execution
The shoot runs according to the prepared plan. Thanks to thorough preparation, it is efficient and without unnecessary waiting.
Where you can use brand photos
- Website — hero sections, about pages, careers section
- Social media — LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook
- Recruitment materials — job listings, career pages
- Print materials — brochures, presentations, annual reports
- PR and media — articles, press releases
A single quality photoshoot can provide content for one to two years. And that is for an investment that seems minimal compared to the cost of a website redesign or an ad campaign.
Who is brand photography for
Brand photography makes sense for any company that:
- Is launching or redesigning its website
- Wants to improve its recruitment materials
- Needs content for social media
- Wants to professionalize its visual communication
- Is going through a rebrand or growth phase
It is not about the size of the company. A shoot for a five-person startup and one for a multinational corporation differ in scope, not in approach.
How much brand photography costs and what exactly you get for it is covered in my article about business photography pricing.
